Serenity Street Foundation: A Legacy of Hope and Healing for Men in Recovery

We do recover, sober living in columbus ohio, man extending a hand, hand shake

Ready to extend a hand to any man ready for change.

It was in March of 1996 when the Serenity Street Foundation received its 501(c)3 non-profit designation from the Federal Internal Revenue Service. Shortly thereafter, the doors opened for our very first resident at Serenity Street. At the time, a duplex located at 1138-1140 S. High St. served as the program house for the organization.

Since its inception, over 1,200 men have come through the doors and over 400 of them are living sober and productive lives as contributing members of society. These men are fathers, sons, husbands, employees, and leaders who have taken the difficult but life-changing steps toward recovery. The Serenity Street Foundation continues to provide men’s sober living in Columbus, Ohio, giving structure, accountability, and the supportive environment needed to rebuild lives.

We received a grant in 2011 in order to build a new residential care facility located at 32 E. Woodrow Ave. Across the street is our graduate house, which provides transitional housing for men who are ready for the next chapter of their recovery journey. These facilities are more than just buildings — they are homes where men find safety, stability, and the encouragement to stay strong in their sobriety.

Every year I receive phone calls from graduates thanking me for the crucial role Serenity Street has played in their recovery. It is very rewarding and humbling to know that The Serenity Street Foundation has impacted the lives of so many men. Each story is a powerful reminder that addiction recovery is possible, and that a sober living program can truly transform lives for the better.

Fortunately, we have been able to establish an excellent team of staff and volunteers who are very dedicated and committed to faithfully serving our guys. Their compassion and dedication provide the day-to-day support that makes recovery sustainable. Serenity Street is not just about providing housing; it’s about building a community of men who lift each other up, hold one another accountable, and walk together toward lasting sobriety.

It has been only by the grace of God that all of this has transpired. Whenever someone reaches out for help, we want the hand of Serenity Street to be there for men suffering from the detrimental effects and devastating consequences of addiction. Whether someone is seeking a structured sober living program in Columbus, Ohio, transitional housing after treatment, or simply a community of men committed to recovery, Serenity Street Foundation is here to provide guidance, care, and hope.

Together we can make a difference — one person at a time!
